The Mission Services website, as a donor meets it

Mission Services meets people at a hard moment: men and families who are homeless or at risk, and people facing mental health and addiction. You did not ask for this note. We read the public site that day, opened the gift forms, and did not pay.

The site can take a gift. It does not make giving the obvious, trustworthy next step.

Correct Donate, Summer of Need, and Donate Online on the site you have now, so gifts are not lost while you decide. A full rebuild is still the right step, with ongoing management after it. Patches leave the structure in place. We did not make a test gift. The Finances page says the charity is audited. We did not check the auditor.

Today and with us

Today the first screen leads with Get Help and Get Involved, and Donate is a corner button. With us: one reason to give, any amount, 76 beds, and Get Help visible but not leading. Illustration, not the live site.
Today Donate opens Page Not Found. With us: one form, Canadian dollars, one default fund you choose. Illustration, not the live site.
Today Summer of Need is in US dollars and still talks about summer. With us: Canadian dollars, or the tile comes down. Illustration, not the live site.
Today Contact Donate Online opens the goods page. With us: a cash gift, and goods keep their own path. Illustration, not the live site.
Today the gift tools start at $90 Canadian on aftercare, $100 US on Highest Priority Needs, and the popup changes. With us: one form, one default fund you choose, one set of amounts. Illustration, not the live site.
Today the charity number, audit, tax receipt, and 519-433-2807 sit away from the form. With us they sit beside the payment. Illustration, not the live site.
Today on a phone the headline is covered, speed is 31, and the main photo took about 28 seconds. Desktop was 84 in that same test. With us the headline and buttons are clear. Illustration, not the live site. No future speed score.

What we photographed

The Donate button opens a gift form on a page titled Page Not Found.

The Summer of Need gift form is set to US dollars.

On a phone, a side tab covers the homepage headline.

Phone speed 31 and desktop speed 84 out of 100. The main photo took about 28 seconds on the phone test and a few seconds on the desktop test.

Two other London homepages

Unity Project homepage, with a give button on the first screen.
Unity Project puts the ask on the first screen.
Unity Project give page: cheque, events, and securities.
Their give page lists cheque, events, and securities.
London Cares homepage, Donate in the top bar.
London Cares puts Donate on the first screen.
London Cares donate page. The online form was not on the screen that day.
That day the page offered a cheque address, items, and an email. The online form was not on the screen.

Their homepages ask more clearly. Your form, once it opens, is more complete: amounts, monthly giving, and a list of programs. We did not compare income or gift counts.

Rebuilding the website around a gift

Follows the review above. You did not ask for this.

The aim is more completed donations. We will not promise a percentage. There are no visitor numbers to promise against.

Correct the three breakages now. Then rebuild. Patches leave the structure in place.

No scolding, shame, or fake urgency. Pressure that shames a visitor often makes them leave, and this audience includes people who need shelter. You approve the words.

One gift path

Today several buttons open similar forms with different defaults. With us, every money button opens the same form. Illustration, not the live site.
Illustration, not the live site. Seventy simple figures, captioned as an illustration that $700 means 70 people getting warm. Not a Mission Services fact.
Illustration, not the live site. Not a fact. The arithmetic in that picture is about $10 a person. The site does not say that. A meal at $4.49 is a different claim. A smaller amount needs a smaller count you approve. We will not invent the ratio. Real faces need permission.

Ways to Give

Today Ways to Give does not start with a cash gift. With us, cash comes first, then monthly, goods, wills, and other gifts. Illustration, not the live site.

After launch

Today nobody can see where a donor drops off. With us: a monthly look, one small test, a short list, and a report on gifts. Illustration, not the live site.

We watch traffic and behaviour in a way that respects privacy. We do not need a list of donor names.

How it runs

Four phases with no dates: confirm the gift rules, rebuild, launch and measure, keep improving.
What we need from you: who decides the default fund, the count of people for each amount, a yes or no on real faces, current pages and how a gift is receipted, someone to approve the wording, and a small test gift after launch.

A conversation to confirm the gift rules. There is no deadline. If you set the rebuild aside, the three corrections above still stand on their own.
